  • The Embark offers about 105 miles of pure electric range, and up to 450 miles total when using its low-emission gasoline range extender.
  • It uses a 140-kWh center-mounted battery pack plus an 800-volt architecture enabling DC fast charging, with the option to charge at home or campsites.
  • Full commercial production begins in 2026, and before that THL rental units will let consumers test Embark, giving feedback that will guide improvements.

Think about driving an enormous RV powered by electricity. Quiet motor hum, instant torque, zero diesel smell. Then imagine it still going for 450 miles using a backup gasoline engine to extend range. This is THOR Industries’ Embark launching a new chapter in RV travel.

You might ask: “Is this really practical or just hype?” The Embark, built by Entegra Coach, seems to answer that with a resounding yes. THOR says this model is the world’s first range-extended electric Class A motorhome. It’s built on an EV platform by Harbinger Motors exclusively for THOR and includes a gasoline range extender (low emission) for that extra push.

The battery comes in at 140-kWh, mounted low and centered to improve balance and reduce sway. On battery power alone, you can travel roughly 105 miles, which is ideal for short outings or daily drives. With the gasoline extender in play, the total range stretches to around 450 miles. For recharging, the 800-volt electrical system supports DC fast charging, while traditional options at campsites or homes are also available.

The safety package includes a backup camera with dynamic trajectory lines, ultrasonic collision warnings at the front and rear, and real-time tire pressure monitoring. These features come standard, not as optional extras.

The Embark can double as a backup power supply for your home during emergencies. Its battery can keep essential systems running during a blackout.

Production will begin in 2026. Before full rollout, THL (THOR’s rental arm) will offer Embark units for rent so customers can try them and give feedback. THOR is planning to use that feedback to refine the product throughout 2026.

Bob Martin, President & CEO of THOR, said, “Electrification will play a central role in the future of mobility, including RVing. This first-of-its-kind electric Class A motorhome reinforces THOR’s innovation leadership and offers unparalleled product differentiation for the Entegra Coach brand.”

“With the reputation of Entegra Coach, we are certain that it is the best brand to bring this project to life,” stated Ken Walters, President & CEO of the Jayco Family of Companies. “The Embark will go through extensive consumer testing through the rental market prior to production next summer.  We want to be sure that it offers everything a customer expects from an Entegra Coach motorhome.”

Why this matters. RV drivers often deal with “range anxiety,” the nagging thought that the battery may run out or that chargers could be scarce in remote areas. By combining electric drive for shorter trips with a gasoline extender for longer distances, the Embark quiets those concerns. It brings together sustainability with lower emissions and a smoother ride, comfort with greater stability, and flexibility with multiple charging options plus backup power when needed.

There are still questions. How heavy will the gasoline extender system make the vehicle? How often will owners rely on gas vs battery? What will maintenance and total cost of ownership look like? How far will DC fast charger infrastructure for large EV rigs develop? But with rental trials in 2026, THOR seems ready to collect real-user data to answer those.

This goes far past a flashy reveal. It feels like a real turning point in how people may live and travel with RVs. An electric drivetrain paired with backup power, technology designed for safety and comfort, flexible charging options, and even the possibility of powering your home during an outage.
