Ford is taking the electric vehicle market to new places with the Mustang Mach-E Rally. This special edition EV is designed to tackle loose gravel and dirt – where the namesake horses prefer to roam. This hot hatch has an expected delivery date in early 2024.
Rally-Ready Mechanical Upgrades
The Mustang Mach-E will be outfitted with a plethora of mechanical upgrades. Ford hasn’t released the specs yet, but the automaker has announced that they will top those of the Mach-E GT’s 480 horsepower and 650 lb-ft of torque. The 91-kWh lithium-ion battery pack will have an expected range of 250 miles and will charge from 10% to 80% in 35 to 40 minutes.
Ford is giving the Mach-E Rally the first ever RallySport Drive mode which will give the EV a linear throttle response for more control and an off-road ready damping system for better handling through slippery corners.
Other upgrades will include MagneRide shocks, a 0.8-inch lift, and dirt-road-ready springs. Ford will also add protective shielding around the front and rear motors to keep the dirt and debris out of the drivetrain.
Ford will shoe the Mach-E Rally with 19-inch wheels and Michelin CrossClimate 2 all-season tires.
Attention-Getting Rally Styling
The Mach-E Rally will pick up where previous Ford rally cars left off – especially the Ford Focus RS. The new EV will feature a rally-ready front fascia with high-mounted fog lights and a rally-ready front splitter. The back side features a sporty rear wing atop the hatch. Ford is also adding upper and lower body moldings for an aggressive 360-look.
Standard exterior styling features include a black-painted steel roof and two contrasting racing stripes, which will be offered in Eruption Green, Grabber Blue, Grabber Yellow, and Shadow Black. Ford is showcasing the Rally trim in Grabber Yellow but will offer the model in Star White or Glacier Gray.
As the Mach-E Rally is designed for dirt roads, the automaker is adding a film on the door cladding and arch fenders to protect the paint from chipping.
