When was the last time a brand truly focused on giving you what you deserve? Today, as Suzuki and Toyota deepen their collaboration to bring a new Suzuki electric car to market, the narrative feels different. It’s not just another industry deal, but a real opportunity to provide consumers worldwide with genuine choices that respect both personal freedom and environmental responsibility.
This isn’t just another empty promise or vague commitment to the environment. Suzuki’s first fully electric SUV, the e VITARA, will roll off production lines in Gujarat, India, by spring 2025.
The model draws on Suzuki’s “Emotional Versatile Cruiser” concept, blending a high-tech aesthetic with the strength of an SUV, and was first showcased as the eVX concept at India’s Auto Expo and the JAPAN MOBILITY SHOW in 2023.
This milestone is the result of a collaboration between Suzuki and Toyota that goes beyond basic business interests. Both companies are committed to bringing a Suzuki battery EV to the rapidly growing SUV market, a move that could change what people expect from electric vehicles, especially in emerging markets.

Suzuki and Toyota Partner for Carbon-Neutral Mobility
Suzuki and Toyota both started in Enshu, a historic region in western Japan, moving from textile production to becoming major car manufacturers. This partnership is a focused effort to tackle global transportation challenges, honoring their roots while looking boldly toward the future.
“While continuing to be competitors, we will deepen our collaborations toward solving social issues, including the realization of a carbon-neutral society through a multi-pathway approach,” states Suzuki President Toshihiro Suzuki.
This multi-pathway approach means the companies aren’t staking everything on one trend or technology. They’re meeting consumers where they are, from internal combustion to hybrid and now BEV options.
Suzuki e VITARA EV is Built for Power, Range, and Real-World Versatility
The e VITARA is no ordinary EV. This SUV has been designed from the ground up as a BEV, capturing Suzuki’s engineering strengths and Toyota’s experience in electrified platforms.
Sporting a “High-Tech & Adventure” theme, the e VITARA features large-diameter tires, a long wheelbase (2,700 mm), and a compact yet spacious structure thanks to its HEARTECT-e platform.
This lightweight platform is designed with high-voltage protection and skips the usual underfloor structures, creating more space for a larger battery and a roomier cabin. With overall dimensions of 4,275 mm in length, 1,800 mm in width, and 1,635 mm in height, it comfortably seats five passengers, which delivers both adventure and comfort.
Under the hood, the Suzuki Vitara EV features two battery capacity options, 49 kWh for 2WD and up to 61 kWh for the 4WD model, ensuring a reliable range that keeps up with your lifestyle without the frequent need for recharging.

Its eAxle powertrain, comprising a highly efficient integrated motor and inverter, delivers sharp acceleration and nimble performance, ideal for both city drives and highway overtakes.
The 4WD version of the e VITARA is built for tough terrains and smooth rides. With Suzuki’s ALLGRIP-e electric 4WD system, it features two independent eAxles, one in the front and one in the rear. This setup delivers a powerful performance, with up to 135 kW of output and 300 Nm of torque, making it capable both off-road and on city streets.
For more challenging terrain, the Trail mode activates a limited-slip differential (LSD), directing power to the wheel with the best grip. Ventilated disc brakes on both the front and rear, along with sturdy 225/55 R18 or 225/50 R19 tires, provide reliable handling and stability across a variety of road conditions..
The interior combines rugged style with a touch of sophistication. It has an integrated display and a “tough” design in the panels and center console, giving it a bold look. Packed with advanced features, the cabin feels high-tech and immersive. Plus, the single-speed electric drive transmission adds to its appeal, which is smooth, straightforward, and perfect for a versatile EV.
A Global EV for All Markets
Unlike the “one-size-fits-all” approaches pushed by some automakers, this electric SUV represents what Suzuki describes a “multi-pathway approach.” This concept isn’t marketing fluff, but a genuine attempt to provide choices for consumers worldwide.
By manufacturing the e VITARA in India, Suzuki and Toyota not only support local economies but also make electric vehicles more accessible, challenging the notion that EVs are exclusively for wealthier markets.
And this commitment matters. The collaboration’s real strength comes from its broad reach, with models planned for Japan, India, Europe, Africa, and the Middle East. Rather than being an experiment confined to one area, this effort represents a unified push toward a carbon-neutral society that respects consumer freedom.
Given Suzuki’s consistent focus on compact, reliable, and fuel-efficient vehicles, expanding into BEV options feels like a natural next step.
Suzuki and Toyota’s Partnership Puts Consumer Choice and Clean Energy First
Consumers deserve better, plain and simple. In an industry where outdated laws and practices often limit progress, the Suzuki-Toyota partnership stands out as a bold move that supports both consumer choice and technological advancement.
Suzuki’s push into electric cars goes beyond corporate gains. This collaboration between two giants respects the needs of both consumers and the environment.
Ultimately, what’s at stake isn’t just Suzuki’s market share or Toyota’s technological edge. It’s the power to choose how we move forward in a world that too often forces conformity over variety.
And that’s what makes the Suzuki e VITARA such an exciting development. Consumers worldwide finally have the chance to support an approach that’s as concerned with practical utility as it is with clean energy.
