No Slowing for Kia
While other automakers are seeing a slowdown, Kia America is far from that, as the automaker sold more SUVs in March 2024 compared to every month in company history. The automaker also saw an 88% increase in electric vehicle sales compared to the first quarter of 2023.
Kia sold 69,472 units in March, with a 9% increase in all electrified models sales compared to March 2023. The fully electric lineup that includes the EV6 and EV9 saw sales increase by 151% over March 2023. These impressive numbers show us that Kia is getting noticed — as it should.
Drivers Want Affordable, Well-Equipped Vehicles
Along with impressive EV sales, Kia had three vehicles sell more than 10,000 units. In March, the new Forte, Sportage, and Telluride each sold more than 10,000 models. The Forte, Sportage, and Carnival all saw their best March numbers in Kia history.
The Forte is one of the most affordable vehicles today, with a starting MSRP of $19,990. The three-row 2024 Telluride has a starting MSRP of $36,190, and the 2024 Sportage has a starting MSRP of $27,190. The Sportage is available in three powertrains: ICE, HEV, and PHEV. The 2024 Carnival is available with an ICE and HEV powertrain.

Kudos to the 2024 Kia EV9
Eric Watson, Vice President of Sales Operations for Kia America, said, “Our growth in SUVs and early impact of the all-new, all-electric three-row Kia EV9 helped deliver Kia’s second-best first quarter sales result.”
The EV9 didn’t just add to the sales statistics. The 2024 EV9 earned two remarkable titles at the 2024 World Car Awards: World Car of the Year and World Electric Vehicle. The awards were announced live at the New York International Auto Show.
The EV9 also received the “World’s Best Car for 2024” from the Women’s Worldwide Car of the Year program. The journalists gave it the top rating over 62 other contenders thanks to the EV9’s safety features, price, benefits, and environmental footprint.
Designing What Drivers Want
Kia and its electric vehicles continue to make waves in the industry, as it recently announced the 2025 Kia K4 — the innovative new model that will replace the Kia Forte. A refreshed Carnival and K5 will soon arrive at dealerships, too.
The roomy K4 straddles the line between a compact and midsize sedan and, like the Forte, will be available in two powertrains, including a peppy 1.6-liter turbo. The new design features class-leading rear headroom and legroom.
Additional bonus points for Kia include honors for the gas-powered version of the EV9, the Kia Telluride. This popular three-row SUV earned the “Best Car for Families” award from the U.S. News & World Report for the fifth consecutive year. Along with the 2024 Sportage, the 2024 Telluride also earned an IIHS Top Safety Pick+ rating.
