  • Power Promise just passed 12,000 free home chargers installed, and the deal runs until September 30, 2025.
  • Ford EV buyers get a free home charger plus installation, turning garages into personal fueling stations overnight.
  • Customers who took the Power Promise charger are saving time and money compared to those who skipped it.

You know that sweet moment when you realize you can skip the gas station altogether and just plug your car in at home, the same way you charge your phone overnight? That’s exactly what Ford is handing customers through its Power Promise program.

Since last October, over 10,000 complimentary home chargers have already been installed across the U.S. Yes, over 10,000! Hard to wrap your head around, right? The deal keeps rolling too, extended now through September 30, 2025. Which means anyone buying a Mustang Mach-E, F-150 Lightning, or E-Transit gets a free home charger with standard installation.

You might be wondering why so many people are drawn to this program. Ford says your driveway becomes your fueling station. Their line “Charge Smarter, Save More, Your Driveway is Your New Gas Station” captures the whole idea.

That first night you plug in, wake up to a full battery, and head out, the experience of EV ownership finally clicks. That light-bulb moment is priceless.

Since launch on October 1, 2024, more than 10,000 complimentary chargers and installs have been placed across all 50 states. And by August 20, 2025, the count had climbed to over 12,000.

Sales followed suit. In that same window, Ford sold roughly 70,000 EVs, including nearly 38,000 Mustang Mach‑Es. That’s not a misprint. That’s a lot of electric fans coming aboard.

The program got extended multiple times. First in January 2025, then again in April, with Canada and the UK added to the offering. And now, here we are, with that extension through September 30, 2025 in the U.S.

To me, having a home charger sounds like the ultimate convenience, the kind of thing that makes you walk outside each morning already set with a full battery. I can see how plugging in overnight takes the edge off any range anxiety too, because the process is similar to charging your phone, and by morning your car is sitting there ready with what feels like a full tank.

And from my perspective, the dealerships have it right. This program really does help people save time and money, one driveway at a time. And in places like Tennessee, where public fast chargers are few and far between, that kind of reliability becomes even more valuable.

I can’t help but agree with Mustang Mach-E and F-150 Lightning owners who say their home has become their gas station, since that change completely alters how you think about driving an EV.

So why does any of this really matter? Because plenty of Americans are curious about going electric, yet hesitation creeps in when charging logistics come up. A recent Verra Mobility survey found that 47% of Americans plan to buy an EV within the next five years, with 21% expecting to make that switch in just one to two years.

The current ownership rate, though, sits at only 7%. The biggest roadblock is access to charging stations. Nearly half of respondents said that was their top concern, while 71% admitted range anxiety was still very real for them.

This is exactly where home charging proves its value. Ford’s own data shows that customers who accepted the complimentary charger and installation tend to save both time and money compared to those who did not.

Add in extras like round-the-clock live support, access to the BlueOval Charge Network (the largest integrated public charging network in North America, which includes the Tesla Supercharger network), and a dependable battery warranty, and the program feels like a complete package.

Jim Farley, Ford CEO, reinforced this on X when he wrote that over 10,000 complimentary home chargers have already been installed, and explained the extension through September 30 as another way to help customers cut costs and simplify their EV ownership.

What stays with me is how this mix of thoughtful design and practical perks makes EV ownership feel smoother. No random stops at public stations, no searching around town. You simply plug in at home, wake up ready, and enjoy a routine that feels clean, straightforward, and smart for today’s driver.
