Ford Set to Boost Mach-E Production

On Monday, Ford reduced prices for the Mustang Mach-E for the 2023 model year, and boosted production of the electric crossover SUV.

The best-selling Mustang this year is the one that runs on batteries, and Ford is fixin’ to make a whole lot more to meet demand!

Ford’s all-electric Mustang Mach-E crossover was the third most popular EV model in the US last year, and Ford expects demand to continue to be strong in ’23 with expanded EV tax credits courtesy of the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) and discounts of up to $5900 on new Mach-E orders. As such, it’s combining those price reductions with an increase in Mach-E production for the coming year.

Both moves will serve to reinforce Ford’s current position as the “number 2 US EV manufacturer,” as the Blue Oval brand continues to scale up its electric vehicle business.

“We are not going to cede ground to anyone. We are producing more EVs to reduce customer wait times, offering competitive pricing and working to create an ownership experience that is second to none,” said Marin Gjaja, Chief Customer Officer, Ford Model e. “Our customers are at the center of everything we do – as we continue to build thrilling and exciting electric vehicles, we will continue to push the boundaries to make EVs more accessible for everybody.”

In addition to being Ford’s most popular EV, the Mach-E was also the most popular Mustang in the US. Ford delivered 11,369 of the electric pony cars to new buyers, compared to “just” 10,968 examples of its internal combustion-powered sister car.
