Jeep EV Spied Ahead of Debut

New pictures of baby Jeep EV leaked ahead of debut in October 2022

We don’t even know what they’re going to call the new electric “Baby Jeep.” But now, we know exactly what it’s going to look like!

We’ve known for a little while now that Jeep is building a baby Jeep EV, but the details have been few and far between. We don’t know the expected cost (other than it being “several thousand dollars more” than the Compass), the specs, a release date, or even the compact SUV’s official name yet.

Now, thanks to some paparazzi-style photos taken during an advertising shoot in Portugal, we have confirmation on what the production verision will truly looks like – and it’s remarkably true to the concept!

The “Baby Jeep” looks almost identical to the concept art that was revealed by Stellantis at the CES show earlier this year. The upper grille is closed off for better aerodynamics, while the two lower grilles appear open. The headlight and front bumper designs look unchanged from the original images that Jeep had shared.

The rear also looks the same as the promotional images, especially the rear light clusters. It even sports the same bright yellow body and contrasting black roof, as well as chunky wheel arches with plastic cladding.

We still obviously don’t know anything about the powertrain, though fans have hypothesized that it’ll use the Stellantis e-CMP platform developed by the PSA Group in concert with the state-owned Chinese automaker, Dongfeng.

In 2021, Carlos Tavares, the controversial CEO of Jeep’s parent company, Stellantis, shared his vision for the brand’s all-electric future. “Electrification will amplify Jeep’s core attributes,” he explained. “This new model will launch during the first half of next year and is the first of a comprehensive fully-electric Jeep line-up that will cover every SUV segment by 2025.”

What’s more, during Stellantis’ Jeep celebrations for its 80th anniversary last year, Jeep Brand CEO Christian Meunier announced that there would be, “a fully emissions-free Jeep in every segment by 2025.”

Enough talk, though. You can check out these spy shots of the upcoming electric SUV, from AutoExpress UK, below, then let us know what you think of the little crossover in the comments section at the bottom of the page.
