Two years after the first Kia EV6 arrived in the United States, the automaker is announcing a larger fully-electric SUV designed for adventures and family. The Kia EV9 is a three-row SUV filled with technology, safety features, and eye-popping Kia styling.
What Powers the Three-Row Kia EV9
The 2024 Kia EV9 is expected to arrive on dealership lots in 2023. The three-row fully-electric SUV is similar in size to the gas-powered Kia Telluride, and like all Kia vehicles, it will have an impressive amount of features.
The EV9 will be available in a handful of configurations: rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive in a standard or long-range battery pack. Kia will offer both drivetrains with a 99.8-kWh long-range battery pack for about 300 miles of range. The AWD long-range model will have a short range, because of the added power.
The standard 76.1-kWh battery is only available with rear-wheel drive and will deliver about 223 miles of range. The dual-motor EV9 will deliver 379 horsepower and both models will have 5000 pounds of towing capability – proving the EV is ready for fun!
Designed For Modern Comfort
Since drivers and passengers spend their time in the vehicle, Kia engineers have taken the time to create a user-friendly and inspirational interior design. The EV9 has features that set a new standard for interior features, as they deliver premium comfort and intuitive technology. All EV9 trims will include a variety of sustainable, plant-based, and recycled materials in the comfortable and modern interior.
The flagship electric SUV has an elegant interior design that is more like a luxurious living room than a utilitarian SUV. The lounge-style seats make every trip enjoyable, and the 82 cubic feet of cargo space delivers unexpected versatility.
Drivers can choose the EV9 with seating for six or seven passengers, depending on whether they want captain’s chairs or a bench in the second row. The second-row captain’s chairs are equipped like front-row seats with massaging, heating, and cooling features, and adults will find the folding third-row surprisingly roomy thanks to the boxy exterior design.
Unleashing New Infotainment Features
Kia announced that the EV9 will feature a new generation of infotainment features, but the automaker is keeping the details under wraps. Drivers will get two 12.3-inch screens for information and entertainment. The high-tech EV9 will not have dials or knobs but will have a few touch-sensitive controls to move through menus and HVAC features.
Affordably Priced
Currently, only a few three-row fully-electric SUVs are available, and they all have six-figure price tags. While the EV9 won’t win any awards for being the most affordably-priced EV in 2024, Kia priced it in line with other three-row SUVs.
The expected starting price for the standard RWD model is about $56,000, while the top GT-Line trim with AWD will be about $76,000. For comparison, the 2023 Telluride has a price range between $37,000 and $55,000. The award-winning EV6 has sticker prices that start around $50,000 and top out around $63,000.
