As more drivers look for vehicles with impressive fuel efficiency, plug-in hybrid vehicles like the 2024 Mitsubishi Outlander are once again drawing attention. This seven-passenger SUV is not only fuel efficient, but it’s also a Top Safety Pick according to the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety.

Powering the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV

The comfortable and capable 2024 Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV comes with a 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine, two electric motors, a 20-kWh lithium-ion battery pack, and all-wheel drive.

This configuration creates 248 horsepower, 332 lb-ft of torque, and a combined EPA-estimated fuel-efficiency rating of 26 MPG. When in hybrid mode, the Outlander achieves up to 64 MPGe. The Outlander has 38 miles of all-electric power, which is more than other popular PHEVs.

Standard Safety Technology

The entry-level Mitsubishi Outlander Hybrid ES comes with suite of driver-assistive features that include Blind-Spot Monitoring, Lane-Change Assist, Forward and Reverse Automatic Emergency Braking with Pedestrian Detection, Lane-Departure Warning, Rear Cross-Traffic Alert, Rear Parking Sensors, Driver-Attention Monitoring, Automatic High-Beam Headlights, Rain-Sensing Wipers, and a Rearview Camera.

The newest Outlander has several available safety features. Drivers can add the MI-PILOT Assist with Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Keep Assist, and Traffic Sign Recognition to keep the SUV in the center of the lane and at a safe following distance.

Mark Chaffin, CEO of Mitsubishi Motors North America said about the Outlander, “Our commitment to customer safety is paramount, and it’s great to be recognized by a respected organization like IIHS for the work put in by our engineering teams to maximize safety performance in our best-equipped, most-advanced SUV.”

Experience the Outlander at Electrify Expo

Electrify Expo proudly features the latest, innovative electrified transportation, including new plug-in hybrid vehicles like the Outlander PHEV. Visitors can get behind the wheel of the spacious Mitsubishi Outlander at the exciting event.

Jumping from a vehicle with an internal combustion engine to a fully electric model can be intimidating. Automakers like Mitsubishi realize that drivers appreciate having flexibility, and the Outlander provides it. With plug-in hybrid vehicles, drivers never have to worry about range anxiety, thanks to the gas engine. They get the best of both worlds: the quiet power of the electric motors and the ease of the internal combustion engine.

The flagship Outlander Plug-In Hybrid EV is the only mass-market plug-in hybrid with the ability to charge at a DC fast-charging station. Drivers can fill the battery pack from 1% to 80% in about 38 minutes using a station that provides at least 100 kW of power.

When you visit Electrify Expo, you get a fully immersive experience of the EV market. The events have over one million square feet of displays and test-driving experiences. You can see all the mass-market EVs in one place and test drive them before you buy.
