NIO ES7 Reaches First Customers

NIO Delivers First Batch of ES7 To Customers Across China

Chinese EV giant NIO is showing the world how it’s done, delivering the ES7 SUV to its first buyers less than 90 days after it was announced.

On the NIO mobile app, the carmaker had announced that the first ES7 production vehicles had begun deliveries to the cities of Beijing, Shanghai, Ningbo, Hefei, and Xiamen. After that, it should start going out to other cities soon.

The NIO ES7 is a five-seater SUV based on NIO’s NT2.0 second-generarion platform that also underpins the hot new ET7 sedan that’s bound for Europe. It uses a dual-motor 4WD layout – the front has a 180 kW permanent magnet motor, while the rear has a 300 kW permanent magnet motor.

It comes in three versions depending on drivers’ needs (and, let’s face it: budgets). The base trim has a 485 km (about 300 miles) range and a 75 kWh battery pack for a 468,000 yuan ($67,000) price tag. Customers who want to use NIO’s BaaS (battery as a service) option can pay 398,000 yuan ($58,000) up front and a 980 yuan ($143) battery rental fee monthly to allow for battery swaps.

The second trim has a 620 km (382 miles) range and a 100 kWh battery pack, for 526,000 yuan ($76,500). For BaaS customers, the price is still 398,000 yuan, but with a higher battery rental fee of 1,680 yuan ($245) per month.

The top-level trim comes with a 150 kWh battery pack and a 930 km (just under 578 miles) range for 548,000 yuan ($84,400). BaaS customers will pay 420,000 ($61,120) and have a battery subscription fee (read: lease) of 1680 yuan ($245) per month.
