As if a full megawatt (1341 HP) of power wasn’t enough to get your attention, this one of one NIO E9 gets a hand-painted body.
This one-off NIO EP9 was hand-painted by Nicolai Sclater, a.k.a. “Ornamental Conifer.” An LA-based artist who is well-known for his vintage motorsport, graffiti, and hand-painted signs, Sclater took a page from the BMW and Porsche playbooks to produce this eye-catching art car based on NIO’s all-electric hypercar.
If you’re unfamiliar with the car, it’s definitely worth getting to know. There’s only 16 of them in the entire world (yes, including this art car), and they’re entirely of carbon fiber.
The NIO EP9 also features a chassis influenced by contemporary Le Mans prototype designs (circa 2019), and its “styling” is really a study in aerodynamic downforce — a design philosophy that grants drivers willing to push the envelope fully 3Gs of lateral acceleration to push with, thanks to gobs of mechanical grip and more than its 2.7 tons of aerodynamic downforce at 150 MPH … easy enough, given the car’s electronically limited 194 MPH (315 kmh) top speed.
And, while its 2.5 second 0-60 MPH sprint is bonkers fast, it’s another statistic that really drops people’s jaws: this all-electric hypercar can go from empty to a full, 265 miles’ worth of battery charge in just under 3 (three) minutes.

The EP9 accomplishes this ultra-ridonkulous fast charging trick the same way other NIO EVs do — by swapping out a spent battery for a freshly charged one.
NIO’s pulled off this trick successfully millions of times across China and Europe with its partner, Shell, already, and will undoubtedly make it the cornerstone of the company’s marketing if and when it finally brings its ET7 sedan and ES7 SUV to North America.
