The stunning, 1049 HP Mercedes-Benz AMG One hybrid hypercar has been teasing us for years. Now, it’s finally real!
After years of breaking records and amazing crowds at events like the Goodwood festival of Speed, the Formula 1-derived AMG One hybrid hypercar, first shown to crowds as a concept back in 2017, is — finally! — in regular production and, crucially, in the hands of its first lucky customers!
Only 275 examples of the 1000+ HP road missile are planned, with a list of confirmed buyers that includes a veritable who’s who of recent Formula 1 stars like seven-times World Drivers’ Champion Lewis Hamilton, 2016 WDC Nico Rosberg, and ex-McLaren and Red Bull Racing ace David Coulthard.
Anyone hoping to add their name to that prestigious list will have to start scouring eBay and Bring a Trailer auctions, though, because all 275 are sold — and that’s despite a starting price of more than $2.5 million (and, let’s face it, the oil changes probably aren’t cheap, either!).
Those 275 buyers will get an absolute stunner of a car powered by a turbocharged 1.6-liter V-6 developed from Mercedes’ championship-winning race car from the 2015 F1 season. The engine sends power through a generator on its way to the rear wheels, while two additional motor-generators drive each of the front wheels, giving the AMG One extremely controllable all-wheel drive traction that will catapult the car from 0-60 MPH time in less than 2.9 seconds on its way to a top speed of 219 MPH.
