Can-Am Reclaims its Legacy

FIRST LOOK! CAN-AM MOTORCYCLES READY TO RESURFACE WITH A 2023 MODEL

Can-Am forged its motorcycle legacy in the 1970s with AMA motocross wins across the US. Now, they’re back – and they’re electric!

If you’re a rider of a certain age, you probably remember Can-Am as a motorsports powerhouse, dominating the dirt track scene in the 1970s and winning the AMA motocross championship in 1974. These were serious, two-stroke, go-fast thrill rides, and everyone loved them.

It was too good to last. BRP-owned motorcycle brand Can-Am stopped building motorcycles in 1987 – but, while the brand survived in the form of heavyweight, three-wheeled touring vehicles in the interim, those machines never quite captured the thrill and magic of the original. Now, with the launch of the all-new 2024 Can-Am Origin off-roader and Can-Am Pulse street bike … that thrill might just be back!

The company’s executives seem just as excited about their new bikes as we are. “Today, our story of innovation reaches new heights with the reveal of market-shaping electric products that will enhance consumer experience on the road,” said José Boisjoli, President and CEO of the brand’s parent company, BRP. “Half a century ago, Can-Am roared to victory on the track and the trail, and today, a new legacy begins. With the Can-Am Origin and Can-Am Pulse, the first two models of our electric 2-wheel family, we are gearing up to reclaim our motorcycle heritage by crafting thrilling riding experiences for a whole new generation.”

The bikes are set to be ready for pre-order sometime next year, with customer deliveries beginning in 2024. Will they have what it takes to take on the competition from LiveWire? You can check out these pictures of the Origin adventure bike and Pulse street bike, below, then let us know what you think of their chances in the comments section at the bottom of the page.

  1. Great…you can go riding all day if you don’t go any further than 150K….but no worries, you can re-charge in the woods by plugging into a tree.
