The Model S Plaid and Lucid Air Sapphire raised the high performance bar this year, and Porsche is rising to the challenge!
The Porsche Taycan has always carried the expectation of high performance, if only because of the storied brand’s motorsports legacy. For the most part, the Taycan has delivered — and Porsche buyers have responded by buying more and more of the P-brand’s EVs every year.
Still, the 216 MPH Tesla Model S Plaid and monstrous, 3-motor, 1200 HP Lucid Air Sapphire that can blast across a standing quarter mile in about 8 seconds require some sort of response if Porsche wants to hold on to that “top spot” in well-heeled buyers’ mental real estate — and this recently spied test mule seems to be Porsche’s own, triple motored monster!
AutoExpress UK caught the big bore Taycan testing at Germany’s famed Nürburgring earlier this week, with an aggressive front splitter, rear wing, and diffuser package on show (along with a couple of battle scars, too). The car seems to be slightly lower, as well, which seems to suggest a firmer, more track-biased chassis set-up to partner the expected 1000+ HP response.
Other tweaks seem to include a new radar system behind the windscreen of the mule, suggesting that the next-gen Taycan could arrive with an improved suite of autonomous/driver assist systems, though the idea of a self-driving Porsche insults our sensibilities a bit.

Lol the 216mph Plaid was hacked/modded and what Lucide does an “about” 8 second quarter mile?
Disabling the governor is hardly a hack. And, yes: they claim sub 9.0.
The current cars are already more than fast enough,
Hopefully this will be a limited edition to satisfy YouTube only..
